Our Story

“God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.”

— Psalm 68:6

In January 2013, Antioch Houston was planted in the Bay Area of Houston. From the time Antioch Houston launched, there was a vision to see new Lifegroups, campuses, and churches planted not only in the Bay Area, but across the Greater Houston area. One of Antioch Houston’s first Lifegroups started in 2013 and was located in the Heights area of Central Houston. After this Lifegroup quickly grew and multiplied several times over, we began gathering monthly for worship services in the city. By the fall of 2017, it became clear that it was time to launch a Sunday morning campus in Central Houston.

In April 2018, we held our first Sunday service at the Big Brothers Big Sisters building as the Antioch Houston Central Houston Campus! Over the last two and a half years, we have seen God move in amazing ways in the Central Houston area as we have grown as a campus. Now, we are moving into the next phase of our church.

In January 2021, Antioch Central Houston was launched as a church plant sent from Antioch Houston (Bay Area), and in May 2022 we relocated to our new Sunday home at 1035 E. 11th Street (in the Vineyard Church of Houston’s building) and made the exciting shift to evening services.

As more campuses and churches are added to the Antioch Houston Family of Churches, we will continue to work together to send people overseas and to make an impact right here in Houston. We are excited and expectant for all God has in store!

It has been amazing to see God build His church from the ground up.  As we look ahead, we believe God has called us to partner with other people, churches and organizations to give every person in the Greater Houston area the opportunity to hear the Gospel and to start house church (Lifegroup) movements all across the city. Ultimately, we want to fulfill the Great Commission in our lifetime by proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom among every unreached people group in the world, so that Christ will return.  And with God’s faithfulness behind us, His Spirit with us and heaven before us, we are confident that the best is yet to come!

We believe that Jesus Christ, through the local church, is the hope of the world.
