Growing in our relationship with God begins with taking responsibility for our own growth. Take a first step as a faithful witness using the ideas below.
Willing to Witness

Jesus invited his disciples to pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers. It is God who positions us in just the right place to witness. It is on us to be willing and ready, and that begins with prayer.
Each morning, pray a simple prayer like, “God, include me in making your Name known today, however you want to.” Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you so that you will make the most of every opportunity. If you miss an opportunity or nothing comes up, simply choose to learn from it and be available again the next day.

Rediscover the foundation stories of the Christian faith by taking time reading an account of the life of Jesus.
As you read, write down any verses that stick out to you in a journal. Afterward ask “God, what do you want me to know?” Write down what you sense.

Pick a short but meaningful passage and commit to putting it to memory. Consider starting with Psalm 23.
Use every tool at your disposal to help memorize it: write it down, say it out loud multiple times before bed, slowly meditate on each verse, or write the first letter of each word to help you visualize it.

We grow best in authentic community. Use these questions in Lifegroup or Core Group to encourage growth, accountability, and next steps around being a faithful witness.

1. How has God included you in proclaiming the Gospel recently? What relationships with unchurched friends have you been investing in?
2. Can you confidently share your testimony? Can you do it in 30 seconds? 2 minutes?
3. Are you sharing Jesus consistenly in your life? Do you have to force yourself to do it, or have you gotten to the point where you naturally look for ways to get Jesus into a conversation?
4. Are you consistently praying for missionaries around the world? Are you financially or practically supporting a missionary among the unreached?
5. Have you gone on a mission trip overseas yet? Do you have a passport? What are you doing to impact missions around the world?
6. Have you ever sense a call to go overseas and work among an unreached people for season? Is it something you'd consider if the Lord called you?
